Artist Statement |
Since I was little, my favorite thing to do was draw. I used to always draw horses since they were my favorite animal at the time. My parents have encouraged me to keep practicing my drawing skills after they found out that I wasn't going to give it up so easily. After I got into high school they wanted me to try different things other than art, however, nothing grew on me as much as having a pen/pencil or paint brush on me.
My inspiration came from the few people whom I had grown up with. My Great Aunt Jan was an artist and painter. I would always look forward to going to her house during the holidays to show her my newest works. She would also sit down and sometimes teach me what different techniques I could try or use. After she passed away from breast cancer, I became determined to become a better artist than I had before. This also eventually pushed me to take an interest in Graphic Design during high school. I first obtained my Wacom Intuos Pen & Touch Tablet for my birthday freshman year. Since then, Graphic Design has become the main medium that I use for art since I find it much easier and more fun than sketching. I enjoy experimenting with the different brushes in Art Rage Studio 3 (Main Program used from home) and loved having the opportunity to use Photoshop while at school. There are still many things for me to learn yet, but I'm an excited and eager student to continue learning more about Graphic Design. |
